Award Contests
Award contests. Just don’t know about ‘em. Vitamin sort of stopped submitting work to paid contests about two years ago. Haven’t missed those little trophies or the honorable mention plaques. Enjoy saving the nearly $3,000 it cost us annually to submit. What feels best is knowing in our hearts and minds that our work is well crafted without needing to hear it from some random “judge.” By design, isn’t a pay-for-entry contest inherently flawed? Does an actor pay The Academy to be considered for an Oscar? Does a musician pay the Grammys to be considered?

Totally agree with you. Aside from saving money, contests have become a biased and corrupt.
